Anna Shea was a close friend and possible lover of Maggie Adler who helped decode the transmissions from the crew of the sunken USS Kanaloa.

Background

Anna grew up in Maine with her childhood friend Maggie, with whom she was very close. She worked in broadcasting, but after some convincing of higher ups by Maggie, Anna was brought to Edwards Island as a comms officer alongside her. [1]

Investigation of the USS Kanaloa

Anna worked alongside Maggie in investigating the radio transmissions from the USS Kanaloa. She and Maggie found that the crew had not died, as was thought, but instead had been separated from their dimensional existence by the implosion of the submarine's nuclear reactor. Anna and Maggie continued their tests through the winter of 1951. [2] [3]

On April 4, 1952 Anna and Maggie attempted to reverse the manifest breakdown so they could free the soldiers and passengers from the dimension they were trapped in. They were able to tune into the temporal tear in the cave and speak with Henry Griffin. (It can be assumed, due to one of the morse code mesaages, that Anna went on ahead and this caused her own downfall and entrapment. It is unknown whether Maggie blamed herself, although it's highly likely she did.) However, the soldiers overpowered Anna while trying to free themselves and ended up trapping Anna with them as well. [4]

Communication Attempts

Alex can find what appears to be traces of Anna attempting to contact Maggie (it is unknown if Maggie found or ignored these messages before her death), or possibly anyoneBy tuning the radio at different locations around Edwards Island, you can pick up these Morse code messages.
